Flat rates per case incentive for medical interventions

Births follow their own laws

Critical remarks were already made in 2014 about the flat rates for cases, also known as DRGs. This is the abbreviation for "Diagnosis related Groups". They were supposed to make medical services comparable and measurable.

In recent years, we could see and experience the effects of implementing such economic considerations into our health-care system, of generalizing it, aligning it to optimization, time routines and financial gains. Births naturally follow their own laws. Thus the victims of this system are expectant mothers and their babies in particular, but also young parents who can no longer find satisfactory care and finally the midwives.
